On Sunday 4th September, Debdale Park will open the gates to it’s brand new children’s playground. It has taken 6 years to get to this point but it looks fantastic. So if you are free and wanting something fun to do with the family, get yourselves down there and show your support.

He does personal training within the gym, but also does group classes at various locations including Anchors Away at Houldsworth Mill. Feeling adventurous or looking for the perfect team bonding day? Well, on September 18th, Reddish Vale farm are hosting the Tough Udder challenge! It is a 5k course and consists of 15 to 20 obstacles including a water slide! The event also includes a childrens obstable course, as well as food and drink! Plus a percentage of the entry cost goes to charity!
The Carousel pub, on Reddish Road in South Reddish, is currently celebrating all things pig and cider, within their Summer festival. The festival is live now and will be for the following few weeks, and includes a special ‘pig’ based menu and a wide selection of ciders. It sounds like the perfect way to make the most of this warm weather we are having!
It really is great to see our number one attraction, Reddish Vale Country Park, being included in an elite list of Greater Manchester’s recommended Summer hot spots, a list that includes the likes of Lyme Park and Dunham Massey. But once you get down there and see it for yourself it isn’t hard to see why. A good time to visit would be July 17th when they host their Summer Family Fun day.
Kingfisher Health Club, located within Houldsworth Mill, currently have a selection of membership offers in place. The Health club, which has a good reputation, benefits from a 16 metre indoor pool, a sauna and a steam room, making the new reduced rates seem competitive when compared to rival health clubs with similar facilities on offer.
Saturday 2nd July sees the first of what will more than likely be many, Summer Fairs. The destination is St Elisabeth’s Church, on St Elisabeth’s Way in central Reddish, and the opening hours run between 11am and 2pm if you want to head down…
Wednesday 4th May saw the opening of a new Dementia Friendly Café in Reddish, at St Agnes church near the Dolphin fish ‘n’ chip shop. The pop up café, which is available for all Dementia sufferers and their carers, will open every Wednesday between the hours of 12pm and 3pm and includes lunch for an entrance fee of £3. It is a great idea and a fantastic addition to our area!
Reddish South Station has featured on a channel 4 programme hosted by celebrity Paul Merton. The programme see’s Paul visit nationwide ‘request stop’ stations and delve in to their histories. Members of The Friends Of South Reddish Station were invited to join in too! It is great exposure for us and well worth a watch (It can be found on channel 4’s 4oD now)!
If you are struggling for ideas on how to keep the kids entertained this coming Bank Holiday, why not head down to Reddish Vale Farm on May 30th for their Family Fun Day? The event will run between 12pm and 4pm and will include several attractions, including a bird of prey show, face painting, bouncy castles, and a tractor train ride!
